Wilkes sheriff deputies are investigating a break-in at a local home Friday morning. Rocky Edwards called deputies after he arrived home to find a damaged back door. It appeared the thief had taken a 2-by-4 to the door and shattered it. It also looked like there had been an unsuccessful attempt to get in the house through the front door. Edwards reports it happened sometime in a one-day span, from early Thursday morning to early Friday morning. The burglar took about 17-hundred dollars worth of property including an iPod, DVD player and 50 DVD's, along with 30 CDs, a companion drill bit set and a small propane grill. The damage to the two doors toals over 400-dollars. Deputies have no suspects at this time, though they say some similar break-ins have occurred in the Bethel Road area in the past month.
