Wednesday Wreck Injures One

A two-vehicle collision on Wednesday morning resulted in one Wilkes man being taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Kenneth Noland was the driver of a 1996 Infinity that was trying to turn left onto School from Laura Street about 7:50 a-m. Police say he pulled out in front of a nothbound 1992 Mercury driven by Renee Hill of Wilkesboro. According to her statement at the scene, she planned to turn onto Laurel and turned on her flasher, but when he darted out, she did not complete the turn. Noland was checked out at WRMC -- neaither Hill nor the passengers in the cars were hurt. Noland has received a citation for failure to yield, and Hill received a ticket for an expired inspection sticker.
