United States Senator Kay R. Hagan (NC), Chair of the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Counterterrorism, commented this week on the President’s Defense Strategic Guidance Report.   Hagan said she would review the report to assess its potential impact on North Carolina's military presence.  Hagan went on to say, “We must fully meet the emerging threats to our national security, maintain America's military superiority and provide for our brave military personnel, veterans and their families.  I will continue to work with Secretary Panetta, our military leadership, and my bipartisan colleagues on the Senate Armed Services Committee to achieve these bedrock objectives.”  North Carolina, the state with the third largest military footprint, is the home of Fort Bragg, Pope Army Air Field, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, Marine Corps Air Station New River, and Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base.   The state also hosts the Joint Special Operations Command, the United States Army Special Operations Command, and the Marine Corps Special Operations Command.
