Repair Work: One Wilkes Overpass/Bridge At A Time

Look for the Detour Signs coming soon to a bridge near you. It starts next month with a completion date set for one year from now.  The NCDOT will be working on and repairing a total of 6 bridges or overpasses in the Wilkes area.  The first scheduled repair is the NC 16/18 Overpass which should begin on February 3.  Other bridge/overpass repairs include the Brushy Mtn Road overpass, Edgewood Road bridge, Hwy 115 overpass, Fishing Creek Road bridge, and the Windy Gap overpass.  Road crews will work on the bridges one at a time, and again the completion date for all 6 is set for January of next year.  Vannoy & Sons is contracted by the State to do all the repairs.
