Last week, Wilkes County Commissioners held a special work session to discuss a proposed 16-bed facility-based mental health crisis center.  Chairman Keith Elmore called the meeting to clarify the use of $1.4 million in the 2018-19 state budget for building the facility as an addition to the Daymark Recovery Services at West Park in North Wilkesboro.  Former NC Senator Shirley Randleman was instrumental in getting the funding approved in the State Budget. VAYA Health will oversee the project and was on hand at the meeting with a presentation.  Other Officials including Former Senator Shirley Randleman, Jeffery Elmore, and representatives from the hospital, Daymark, and Synergy were all involved in the discussion.  The meeting lasted for about 2 hours. No decisions were made.  County Commissioners will consider action at a later date.
