Black History Month in NC

In celebration of Black History Month, Governor Roy Cooper and First Lady Kristin Cooper will honor several African American musicians and artists from North Carolina at a reception at the Executive Mansion today.  Those being honored are from all across the state from at least 16 different counties.  Gov. Cooper has proclaimed February as Black History Month in North Carolina. “Black History Month is a time to celebrate the many achievements of African Americans that shape and strengthen the character, culture and life of our state and nation,” Gov. Cooper said.
