Candidate Filing Ends Today...Unless Extended

Candidate filing for offices for Wilkes and across the state ends at noon today unless extended for North Wilkesboro.  Municipal elections locally are held in November.  Candidates must be at least 21 years old by the general election and be a registered voter. You must be a resident of the municipality to vote in its elections. Locally, candidates must file a notice of candidacy with the Wilkes County Board of Elections to be listed on ballots.  Filing is scheduled to end today; however, the Wilkes County Board of Elections will meet by phone conference at 3:00 pm to consider:  Extending the Filing Period for the Town of North Wilkesboro (if needed).
