There was one dissenting vote with County Commissioners last week regarding the W Kerr Scott Dam & Reservoir.  Work has been underway for years to renew the 1960 contract between the County, the City of Winston-Salem, and the US Government for the Dam and Reservoir.  The contract will expire in August of next year.  The US Army Corp of Engineers is the main driver of the contract and set forth the parameters for the renewal contract.  Commissioners discussed the open-ended nature of the payments and replacement costs that will be determined as needed.  Initially Commissioners talked about tabling the issue; however, Winston-Salem had already voted to approve and the Corp indicated they were not open to contractual changes. Wilkes  Commissioners voted and approved the contract with only David Gambill voting against.
