Several Things Stolen in Just a Few Minutes

They were able to steal about $1700 in property in about 15 minutes.  A Mtn View Road resident told Sheriff's Deputies that he went to the store for one thing and was gone from home about 15 minutes. He returned to find a car backed in his carport with a male driver.  A female accomplice was taking property out of his house and loading it into the car.  The victim tried to block the burglars' vehicle but they drove through the yard.  The victim gave chase for a short time until it was unsafe to continue.  Again, in only a few minutes, the thieves were able to steal a radar detector, a range finder, several knives, camping stove, two handguns, and two drills.  The Wilkes Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft.

Aimed at enforcing seat belt use to help keep you and your family safe, the national seat belt campaign is underway through June 4. In 2016, 452 people were killed and an additional 601 others were seriously injured who were not using seat belts in motor vehicle crashes in North Carolina. Seat belts save lives, and everyone—front seat and back, child and adult—needs to remember to buckle up, every trip, every time.
