Local Restaurant's Fence Damaged

Who caused 500 dollars in damages at DeeJays Restaurant?  That is something the restaurant owner and the Wilkesboro Police would like to know.  The property owner told Police that he found the damage to his fence but did not see who did it.  The fence, located on the south side of the building, appears to have been hit by a vehicle backing into it.  A fence post was broken off at the ground.  A broken plate with a sticker on it was left behind, but that is the only evidence from the scene.  Neighboring businesses were questioned, but there were no witnesses and are no suspects.

The Wilkes County Sheriff’s Department is investigating two car break-ins in Millers Creek.  Both vehicle break-ins were reported on Monday.  A resident on Laws Lane reported that someone entered their car and stole several things including 175 dollars in cash, a Nintendo DS and 15 games, and jewelry.  Stolen property is valued at nearly 250 dollars.  The victim thought the doors were locked on car, but there were no signs of forced entry and are no damages to the vehicle.  Then a resident on Old Ridge Road reported that someone entered his pickup and stole some tools.  An inventory of the stolen tools is still be done by the victim so the amount of stolen property is yet to be determined.  There are no suspects in either break-in, but the investigation is continuing.

Another Drink Machine Break-In with a Key

This isn’t the first time this has happened.  Someone used a key to get inside a drink machine and steal the money from the change box.  In a report filed with the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Department this week, Lacky’s Market Run In on Hwy 18 in Boomer called to report that someone had entered the RC Cola machine outside the business.  The drink machine is the property of Dr. Pepper Bottling Company in West Jefferson.  The change box, money changer, and approximately 50 dollars in cash and coins were stolen.  There was no other damage to the drink machine as someone simply used a key to get the money from inside.  There are no other leads or suspects; the Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
