To say the vehicle break ins are getting old would be an understatement

To say the vehicle break ins are getting old would be an understatement. The Sheriff's Department is investigating 6 cases of breaking and entering to vehicles on Rambling Woods Drive in North Wilkesboro that occurred sometime Tuesday night. Most of the victims stated the doors were unlocked on their vehicles and report change taken. One of the victims reported the change thief also attempted to remove the catalytic converter from his vehicle. His wife stated she saw flashlights outside their residence during the night and at one time during the early morning hours. A couple of items taken from other victims in the area include: 25 dollars in change, a roll of dip and a book of stamps. Which leads to the conclusion, the thief could be a dip spittin', letter mailin' type with lots of pocket change.

You would think it would be common sense by now

With all the reports of vehicle break ins you'd think the word would be out by now, don't leave anything of value in your vehicle, especially if it's unlocked. A victim on Flint Hill in North Wilkesboro Road reported someone took her purse containing personal papers and two hundred thirty dollars in cash from her unlocked van. The purse was located a short time later but the cash was gone.

This wasn't nice at all

This was not nice at all, and you have to wonder why would someone tear walls down and pull the wires through other walls in a house? A victim who owns a rental residence was working outside that residence when he went inside to check on things and found wires had been pulled through some of the walls and other walls in the residence had been completely torn down and the wires taken. Someone is really mean and went through a whole lot of trouble just to steal a little wiring. There are no leads or suspects in the case at this time.

Batteries, batteries, and more batteries stolen

Last week we reported on a couple cases of batteries being stolen from trucks around the area, and asked the question what could someone need so many batteries for? Maybe they're trying to keep up with the Energizer Bunny? A resident of Beaver Creek Road in Wilkesboro reported to the Sheriff's Department that someone had taken the batteries from his logging truck at his building across the road from his residence sometime during the night Tuesday. There are no leads or suspects in the case.

A story of someone coming to your home looking for work sounds iffy

Here's a story that just sounds a little iffy to begin with. A North Wilkesboro resident who ended up being a victim reported to the Sheriff's Department that a man came to his residence looking for work to do around his home. The victim and the man looking for work agreed on some work to be done for eighty dollars. When the man finished the work, he presented a bill to the victim for two hundred sixty dollars. But the victim only paid the man eighty dollars since that was the agreement they had made. That must have made the man mad when he didn't get his way because he took the victims extension ladder and tape measure when he left the residence. Unfortunately the victim didn't get any information from the “not so handy man.” The case is under further investigation.

Foster replied several times "he didn't care.” After running Fosters license, the license came back to be revoked for a Failure to Appear in Watauga County.
