Larceny of welder reported to Wilkesboro Police

Wilkesboro Police received call someone was stealing a welder from a field beside Monte De Ray. Police arrived and spoke with the owner of the welder and a witness. The witness stated he called Wilkes communications center to report someone was stealing the welder that had been in the field. Night shift spoke with the witness and determined that the owner could be loading the welder to remove it. Then a short time later Police received the call of larceny from the owner. The witness stated the subject who took the welder was a small build male and possibly Hispanic. The witness also said that the subject used a come- a - long type winch to drag the welder onto the trailer he was pulling with a grey full size truck. The vehicle left around the back of the strip mall travelling on Winkler Mill toward Dancy Rd. An Officer had recorded the serial numbers on the welder while on patrol during a previous shift and has entered the welder into the national crime database.
