Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at 7:43AM
A Wilkes woman had to be taken to Winston-Salem for surgery to repair a broken ankle, after sheriff deputies say her husband pushed her down the stairs this weekend. Deputies were called about 3 in the morning Sunday to the couple's home on Tates Lane.
42-year old Mona Lisa Wyatt said she and her husband David were arguing, and during the argument he pushed her down the couple's front porch stairs, breaking her right ankle. She also says he slugged her in the left eye before the pushing incident.
She was taken to Wilkes Regional Medical Center to be checked out, then transferred to North Carolina Baptist Hospital for repair surgery. Deputies have issued a warrant for Mr. Wyatt's arrest, on a charge of Assault Inflicting Serious Injury
