Head-On Crash Results in Fatal Injuries to Wilkes Woman

Highway Patrol troopers say a woman who was injured in a head-on crash Friday on N.C. 18 north of North Wilkesboro died over the weekend. A report released today indicates 64-year old Margie Wagoner died Saturday of injuries received in the crash. Wagoner was riding in the pickup driven by her husband Cranford Lee Wagoner. Both were airlifted from the Mulberry Fire Department to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem following extrication from the crushed pickup. At last check Mr. Waggoner was in serious condition. Troopers say charges are pending further investigation of the crash, which was caused when 30-year old Matthew Roger Mastin of Millers Creek drove left of center in a curve on N.C. 18. Current condition of Mastin was not available.
