Neighboring County Requests Help in Rape Case

The Caldwell Co. Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in a rape case. The incident occurred on December 6 in the Baton area of Caldwell County. The victim heard a noise outside her residence around 11 p.m. and saw an unknown suspect breaking into her vehicle. The victim yelled at the suspect and closed the door to her residence to call 9-1-1. Before she could do so, the suspect forced his way into the residence and demanded money. The suspect was armed with a knife. The victim complied, giving the suspect a small amount of money. The suspect then approached the victim with the knife and raped her.  The suspect is described as a light skinned black male in his early thirties. He is approximately five-feet, 11-inches tall with a regular build. The suspect had a deep voice, brown eyes, very short brown hair, shaved to his head, a small amount of hair and a scar on his chin.
