Wilkes Hall Of Fame Taking Nominations

In November, Chris Skabo, Director of Athletics and Healthful Living for the Wilkes County Schools, announced the establishment of the Wilkes County Hall of Fame (WCHofF) to the Wilkes County Schools Board of Education. Applications for the WCHofF’s first class of nominees are currently being accepted and the nominations will end March 14, 2014. The Wilkes County Hall of Fame was created to recognize citizens and corporations that have made invaluable contributions to Wilkes County and the world beyond. The Hall of Fame reinforces the message to children that they too can and should strive for excellence in any endeavor of their choosing. By presenting significant and powerful role models, the Hall of Fame is a source of learning, inspiration and hope for children. The nominee must be or have been a legal resident of Wilkes County.  They must have made broad and lasting contributions to the betterment of the community or brought recognition to the community through their accomplishments.  And, the nominee must be of exemplary character and reputation.  An online nomination form is currently available through the Wilkes County Schools website and by linking to Wilkes County Hall of Fame. To submit an application go www.wilkescountyschools.org and click on Wilkes County Hall of Fame. Hard copies of the nomination form may be obtained by calling (336-667-1121) or coming by the Wilkes County Schools Administrative Office at 613 Cherry Street in North Wilkesboro.
