Increasing Safety in Wilkes Schools

The Wilkes County Board of Education has been awarded a School Safety Equipment Grant of $38,800.  The Wilkes Board of Education chose to use the funds to purchase the Sheriff’s Office VIPER radios and gun safes for the School Resource Officers throughout the County.  The Board of Education asked for and received approval from County Commissioners this week for the purchase.  This funding project will continue to increase school safety by creating better communication with school resource officers and provide higher safety measures at the schools in Wilkes.
