Wilkes County Commissioners met this week and received an update on the facility based crisis center. In an effort led by Shirley Randleman of Wilkes, the NC General Assembly passed a provision allocating 1.4 million dollars for a Facility Based Crisis Center in Wilkes. The proposal agreed upon by County Officials, Synergy Recovery, Vaya Health, and Daymark Recovery is to expand the Synergy building in North Wilkesboro to a 16-bed facility which will lessen the strain on the ER and local law enforcement in dealing with mental health, substance abuse, and other patients in crisis. The facility will be renamed the Randleman Recovery Center. All planning is on track with a report due to the State by April 1.
