Local Municipal Elections--Filing Opens

According to the Wilkes County Board of Elections, the Candidate Filing began this week for the Towns of Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro. In Wilkesboro, candidates may file for two seats on the Town Council. In North Wilkesboro, candidates may file for the office of mayor and two seats on the Town Council.  Candidates and Voters must live within these city limits to be eligible. The deadline to withdraw Notice of Candidacy is July 15 and Candidate Filing closes on July 18. Municipal Elections will be held on November 4^th.
