Stealing Car Parts in Wilkes

Stolen car parts is a common theme recently in Wilkes.  A victim near Elkin reported several parts taken from their vehicle while it was parked at a local business.  When the victim arranged to have the truck towed, they found that various parts were stolen from the vehicle including a clutch, O2 Sensor, battery, radio, catalytic converter, exhaust, and hitch.  The stolen parts are valued at 800 dollars.  There are no suspects. Then a Millers Creek resident reported the theft of a catalytic converter from their car.  The vehicle was parked in the owner's driveway at the time of the theft which occurred overnight.  Damages to the car were estimated at 150 dollars.  The Wilkes Sheriff's Office does have a suspect and charges are pending. And finally, a property owner near Union Grove called the Sheriff's Office to report the theft of a Bully Dog Diesel engine tuner valued at 200 dollars.  The engine tuner was in the basement of the victim; there were no signs of forced entry.  There is also a suspect in this case.  The Wilkes Sheriff's Office is still investigating all of the stolen engine parts reports.
