Paid in Advance and Ripped Off

They paid for the work in advance, and now the work is not done and the repairman is unavailable.  A Wilkesboro property owner called the Wilkes Sheriff's Office about someone taking the money and not completing the repairs.  They hired someone to repair damages to their house that resulted from a fire.  The victim paid the repairman over 57,000 dollars to fix the house and said the repairman worked sporadically since November.  Now the work is not completed and the person hired to do the work cannot be found and does not answer their phone. Charges are pending further investigation of the suspect.  The Better Business Bureau advises to seek home repair professionals only after getting all details in writing and checking for a positive (or negative) history with the BBB, and remember to NEVER pay for repairs in advance.  For more information please visit bbb.org or call 800-777-8348
