Water Rescue in Wilkes

Last week, Ronda Fire and Rescue headed up a water rescue of kayakers. The man and woman entered the Yadkin River in Ronda with plans to float to Crater Park in Elkin. Ronda Fire & Rescue received a call that the two lost their paddles, were having trouble, and a family member was walking along the river trying to find them. Ronda Fire & Rescue, Pleasant Hill Fire & Rescue, Wilkes County EMS, Surry EMS and Elkin Rescue Squad all responded. Ronda Fire & Rescue was the only agency with a boat in the river. The two people were rescued and in good condition.
