Preparing for Snow Storm

With a threat of a major winter storm, the American Red Cross of North Carolina is preparing, urging residents to follow the safety steps. Use care with space heaters and fireplaces to prevent fires. Keep anything that could catch fire at least 3 feet from the heat. Use battery-powered lights and flashlights instead of candles to prevent fires. If you must go outside, wear layers of clothing. Check on loved ones and, particularly if they are older or live alone. And, be careful walking on snow or ice and avoid overexertion when shoveling snow.
